Why Not Run 2020 - CANCELLED

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, Why Not Run 2020 has been cancelled. The committee announces this with a heavy heart but feels the need to cancel the event to coincide with government guidelines. If you can, please donate what you can to our Just Giving page, to help CRY continue their efforts, once it is safe to.

However, there is some good news, as we already have confirmation of the date for Why Not Run 2021! So, for all of you who have continued/taken up running during this time in lockdown, put Sunday 9th May 2021 into your diaries.

Why Not Run 2021 will once again be supporting The Ben Daniels Memorial Fund in association with Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and money raised from the event will provide a cardiac screening event in the local area, where all participants in this year's event will receive priority booking for this free screening.

Further details about the event can be found on the Event Information page, including a link to print an entry form.

The Ben Daniels Memorial Fund in association with CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young)

Ben tragically died in 2011 from an undiagnosed heart condition whilst playing football aged just 15. Ben's fund raises money to hold screening sessions in the local area to screen as many children and young people as possible.

At least twelve young people die in the UK each week from undiagnosed heart problems, so in addition to raising funds for this fantastic charity, we are also hoping to raise awareness of the importance of having young people screened.

Funds raised from Why Not Run events go towards hosting a series of local screening sessions, with Why Not Run participants receiving priority bookings onto these screenings.
